Treatment and Prevention Services in Central Pennsylvania

In partnership with the York and Adams Drug and Alcohol Commission, TrueNorth Wellness Services is proud to offer a range of treatment and prevention services to Central Pennsylvania communities. Treatment and prevention lie close to our hearts because we believe everyone deserves support to overcome what they might be going through. These services are designed to help children and adolescents with mental health, alcohol/drug abuse, and emotional regulation problems.

Our CORE service provides treatment and support for individuals recently discharged from a state hospital or to prevent hospitalization in York and Adams County. Unlike traditional outpatient therapy, much of the treatment occurs in the individual’s residence or elsewhere in the community. We also provide mobile nursing services, monthly appointments with the team psychiatrist, and on-call consultative services.

Our Mental Health Outpatient Therapy program provides individual, family, and group therapy in a traditional clinic-based model and is open to all ages. Services are provided both in-person (Gettysburg, Hanover, Harrisburg, McConnellsburg, Shrewsbury, Elizabethville, York) and via telehealth. Our therapists are trained to work with individuals experiencing a wide variety of concerns, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, and relationship issues, among others.

Substance Use Disorders are diseases that can become terminal if left untreated. To get individuals on the road to recovery, our substance use therapists focus on education, problem identification, increasing self-awareness, developing healthy coping skills, and providing referrals where necessary. This service is provided in Gettysburg, Hanover, Shrewsbury, Elizabethville, and York.

TrueNorth Wellness Services provides 24/7 crisis intervention services in Fulton County, PA. Crisis services are utilized when individuals require immediate support to manage their emotions and/or ensure their safety. An evaluation is completed, and recommendations are made based on the information provided. This could include emotion regulation skills to utilize in the moment, referrals to community resources and ongoing treatment, or assistance accessing higher levels of care.

Our Partial Hospitalization Program offers outpatient group services in a highly structured therapeutic environment located in Hanover, PA. Individuals who need more intensive treatment than what is available through individual counseling or who are at risk for admission to a psychiatric inpatient facility should seek this program. This service also helps individuals transition back into the community after being discharged from a psychiatric hospital.

Our Peer Support Program is designed to help individuals living with or experiencing mental illness through the recovery process in York and Adams Counties. By utilizing trained Certified Peers who are succeeding in their own recovery from mental illness, clients can learn and benefit from their real-life experiences. This program allows our clients to build a comfortable and open relationship with the Peer Specialists based on the idea that each has experience living with a psychiatric illness. Services are provided in Franklin and Fulton counties.

The Student Assistance Program (SAP) was developed in Pennsylvania to serve students in York and Adams counties (and serving one school in Cumberland County) who are having difficulty in school due to alcohol/drug use, depression, or other mental health concerns. SAP seeks to assess and refer these students to appropriate in-school and community resources. Once a referral has been received, TrueNorth Wellness Services collaborates with local school districts, students, and their families to develop a personalized plan of action that provides support and addresses identified concerns.

This program provides community organizations in York and Adams counties, including businesses, law enforcement, first responders, schools, healthcare providers, and others, with the tools they need to support prevention and identify the early signs of substance use. Our programs are endorsed by the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA).
